The effect of the different supports and catalyst-reducing agents on Fischer–Tropsch (FT) reaction was investigated. large surface area SiO2 support with a smaller pore volume deposited fine, evenly distributed Co3O4. Cubic-shaped Co3O4 appeared in clusters TiO2 support, whereas existed as single particles Al2O3 support. activity data obtained were discussed terms cluster size, particle shape, mass transport limitations. SiO2-supported catalysts showed higher for formation paraffinic products when reduced H2 at 250 °C. This is attributed to CoO-Co active bond, which enhanced activation CO hydrogenation reactions. A observed TiO2-supported catalyst reduction temperature (350 °C) Co metal higher. It afforded more due secondary olefins rates. supported least both temperatures strong metal-support interactions. H2-reduced exhibited superior compared all syngas-reduced catalysts. Syngas led carbon deposition carbides suppressed reactions are selective olefinic products.
